Today Frédéric Cherpe is working on his Project Counterpoint Hommage (CPH) :
Counterpoint was a graphical user interface found on some Amstrad PC models in the early 1990s. Counterpoint Homage Project (CPH) aims to revive the spirit of Counterpoint. It modernizes this interface while preserving its retro aesthetic. It's as if we were still using Amstrad PCs running DOS in 2025. This project allows enthusiasts to rediscover the unique user experience of Counterpoint in a contemporary environment.
It runs on the 8086 @ 8 MHz with the same sluggishness as back in the day! The user experience is improved with the 386 at 25 MHz, normally like on the Amstrad Mega-PC, but I don't have one to test on. So, for now, there's a VGA version and a CGA Monochrome version. I'm planning to make a 320x200 CGA version later, with a choice of four color palettes.
This interface uses my own scripting language, "Nova Script," the result of many years of work. But I'll probably make lighter versions without this language, for example, for the 8086 and 8088. I still need to write the language selection button, because yes, this interface can be in any language, but right now it will only be available in French and English. Of course, you can manually write the configuration files to set your own language.
I'll also set up a website with a download page for the different versions and a donation page. It takes up a lot of my time, and I'd like to dedicate more time to this project. So, a few small donations would greatly help me offer you more features, etc. I'll also need to write a user manual in French and English; the amount of work is enormous.
You wish to use a game launcher on your Amstrad CPC (like Steam on PC) and you have an Ulifac expansion card ? Then you can use CPC-Station by Ivavilagu which exists en english and spanish version. To be tested with another mass storage expansion card like the M4 by Duke.

Better late than never, Uniload by Futur's was announced on CPCWiki the 10th November 2024. It's a game launcher for Amstrad CPC(+) to be used with the Unidos ROM which manages several Amstrad CPC mass storage expansion cards.
You can create your own game database on MorphOS, AmigaOS, macOS, Windows and Linux to be used with Uniload thanks to the Uniload Database Creator utility, or download on the site Barjack's game compilation. Beware about one quarter of the games in this compilation won't work with Uniload (track load instad of a files version, error in the database).
UPX v5.0.2 by The UPX Team is an executable compressor for several operating systems including ms-dos. It is very useful notably on PC XT where disk space was limited, whatever 5,25 or 3,5 disks or on hard disks. At the time of my Amstrad PC 1512, I was using Lzexe by Fabrice Bellard (who also owned an Amstrad PC 1512 DD), Diet by Teddy Matsumoto, PKLite by Phil Katz (PKWare) then later UPX.
